About her

Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey (born 26 May 1986) is a Spanish-French actress, currently residing in Paris. She is fluent in French, Spanish and Catalan.
Bergès-Frisbey was born in Barcelona, Spain, to a Spanish Catalan father and a French-American mother. She made her acting debut in 2007 on French television, and has since appeared in films alongside notable talents Isabelle Huppert, Vincent Perez and Daniel Auteuil. In 2008 she made her feature debut in the film The Sea Wall. Then took her first steps into the fashion world fronting French Connection’sSpring Summer 2010 campaign, The Woman, and continued working with the brand for the Autumn Winter 10.
Personally picked by producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Rob Marshall, Bergès-Frisbey made her English language debut in the 2011 highly-anticipated sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, landing the role of mermaid Syrena after a whirlwind of auditions in France, Hollywood and the UK. Since her character played a vital role in the story, she had to brush up on her English and had Penelope Cruz as an on-set pal when the language barrier became too much.
